Welcome to our Competitive Swimming Program page, here you will find all information related to competitive swimming with the Halifax Wavecutters Aquatic Club. Our competitive swimming program offers athletes who are willing to compete the opportunity to excel in the sport. With a carefully designed group size we are able to give our athletes the individual approach to their swimming success.
This individual approach stems not only from individual technical training, but also the mental and fitness programs will be tailored to the specific athlete's needs. We as a club want to help our athletes discover what works best for them in terms of training and our programs are designed to benefit all the athletes within the program, rather than a select few
Halifax Wavecutters Swim Team
Our Competitive Swim team was established in 2007. Since inception, swimmers have performed at various levels ranging from local competitions to senior National events.
The Competitive Swim Team Roster is carefully selected and kept relatively small. This allows for more focused, personalized approach emphasizing skills improvement, technical aspects of their sport, physical fitness and mental fortitude with minimal distraction. In addition, there is a strong emphasis on mutual support and teamwork amongst the athletes, building qualities that can be beneficial for a lifetime.
Despite its smaller size, the HWAC is one of the highest performing aquatic clubs in HRM, developing athletes in Competitive Swimming. Our swimmers have consistently earned top score trophies at Provincial and East Coast Championships, excelled at Age Group and Senior National Championships and earned multiple individual medals. In 2010, the team was awarded the Top Performance Team (which awards points per swimmer), despite its smaller size. The HWAC is very proud that our swimmers still hold 12 Provincial Records across different age groups and genders.
Through the dedicated guidance of our Head Coach, the HWAC is committed to provide individualized and high level of training for our athletes as they strive for and achieve their goals.
